The second in-person stakeholder workshop took place at Northumbria University on 16 July 2024, bringing together approximately 15 participants from Galala University, the UK teams, and Northumbria University. Building on discussions from the first workshop, attendees examined detailed structures for proposed master’s programs, explored emerging TNE delivery models, and identified key teaching approaches to foster transdisciplinary learning in Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE).
Workshop Highlights
Program Structure Refinement: Refine the structure of the master’s program by integrating shared foundational modules (sustainability, research methods, professional ethics), specialised modules (health, sustainable urbanism, global urban futures, adaptive reuse), and a transdisciplinary research thesis.
Flexible Delivery Models: Adopt flexible TNE delivery models by leveraging MOOCs, virtual mobility, work-integrated learning, and stackable micro-credentials.
Enhanced Teaching Methods: Integrate existing teaching methods with problem and project-based learning, joint seminars and discussion forums.
Experiential and Blended Learning: Integrate experiential and blended learning techniques into the curriculum, including site visits and industry-led projects, alongside online resources to enhance accessibility and engagement.
Cross-Cultural & Policy Alignment: Ensure cultural relevance and policy alignment by tailoring modules to meet both UK and Egyptian local needs and accreditation standards.
Industry Partnerships: Strengthen industry partnerships and define follow-up tasks to finalise module content and refine delivery strategies.
